To all POD users thinking about using Windows 7

Don't.

Dars laptop died and we bought a new laptop with Windows 7 installed, and the POD did not load, even though the Monkey was installed under the 7 drivers.
It runs fine under Vista, but I don't believe the drivers for 7 are up to dat as of yet. I'm looking into something that will work, but right now, it's not working on W7.

Most welcome Scott.. Wait a bit right now as I think that Line6 is trying to get the support updates so it can work with W7.
Oh, the pains of "upgrading".

As much as I want to dig into MS about this...
I'm sure it will be fixed within a week... Microsoft hacks are always quick to the market.

I'm having no issues with my Pod and Windows 7.

Either way though.

I always recommend to my customers that they wait at LEAST six months before switching to a new operating system, so that some of the bugs can get worked out.

that's good advice cross platform! Especially with bugs pertaining to compatibility.

I'm using my X3 Bean on Windows 7, no problem, and have been for months.

The trick with Monkey is to run it in compatibility mode for Windows Vista.

Right-click, Properties on your shortcut for Monkey, then go to the Compatibility tab and check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and set it to "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)". I checked "Run this program as an administrator" as well, but I don't think that matters as much.

If you and Dar have separate logins, you should click the "Change settings for all users" button on the compatibility tab and change the above settings there, just to make sure it applies to everyone that uses the computer.

Thanks so much for the help Icewind

For what it's worth, Dariens old IBM Thinkpad T-23 crapped out over a power surge. I was looking at getting a new laptop anyways just for doing what I did on my HP Presario 6000, so it was a win-win. He got my HP, Sarah and I went out and picked up a brand new Emachines E627 for under $400 that had the W7 loaded, so now everyones running a new/er laptop.

I'm so not used to W7 mode of things. I've been a hardcore XP user for so long now.
I still love XP though.

I've switched over the compatabilty and it's working great

Thanks again for the advice and help everyone

Woo! Glad you got it working.

I feel as though I should mention I sorta accidentally lied when I said "no problems". I remembered that I do get the occasional BSOD referring to an L6POD .dll if I use the Bean as my sound card for an extended period of time.

I read about that as well over at the Line6 forums. Sarah has the E627, but I load the Monkey on everything just in case.

I have her Emachines D620 loaded with Vista, but I might revert back to XP just because I like the simplicity of it. Her and I... okay, more I than her... spent a a few hours changing over things that were on the D620 over to the E627 because of the issues I was having with the POD not working, so no sence in trying to take it back now lol.
